Are all files really kept on my device?+

Yes. Reading, preview preparation and conversion happen in browser memory. Nothing is uploaded or retained remotely.

Why does an AVI or MKV preview take longer?+

Browsers usually cannot play those containers directly, so SmallWebLab Tools prepares thumbnail frames and a small preview of the selected moment locally.

Does every codec inside these formats work?+

Container support is broad, but rare or proprietary codecs may not be included in the on-device conversion engine. SmallWebLab Tools reports that clearly without changing your original.

Does the GIF include sound?+

No. The GIF format does not support audio.
