GIF uses a limited colour palette and stores many image frames. A short, well-cropped moment at a moderate width will look better and travel faster.

Why is the GIF larger than my MP4?+
MP4 uses efficient video compression. GIF stores a sequence of palette-based images, so long, wide or high-frame-rate animations can become much larger.
Why is the maximum clip length 30 seconds?+
Long GIFs can consume a great deal of memory and produce impractically large files. The limit keeps on-device conversion reliable.
Does the GIF include sound?+
No. The GIF format does not support audio.
How do I make the smallest GIF?+
Use a short clip, 480-pixel width, 10 frames per second and the Compact colour setting.
